Sofia Hager was born in Tskhinvali in the Republic of Georgia. She grew up in Georgia's capital Tbilisi, where she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Dimitri Takaishvili's class. Soon after graduation, she moved to Germany and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Munich in Günther Förg's class. She won the DAAD-Award by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for excellent achievements in 2012. In the same year, she moved to New Jersey, USA. She has been working in Brooklyn, NY, since 2012.
